Suzuki Part Information
Suzuki are the fourth largest Japanese automobile company, now famous for making small and economic cars. Suzuki started out in 1909, when they were specialists in weaving thread and yarn.
The company expanded in 1937 when their first batch of prototype cars were built, the best of these was capable of generating just under 10BHP out of 800cc. The onset of the war meant all car production ceased. It was not until the 50's when Suzuki began producing motorcycles. Their innovation in creating a 2-stroke engine attached to a bike that had the option of being powered by pedalling or running purely on the motor was a break through – and so about came the establishment of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
The Suzuki Suzulight
Suzuki are famous for their light-weight cars, the first of which was produced in 1955 called the Suzulight. It featured a fully independent 4-wheel suspension system – making the car a huge success. The company continued to manufacture both motorcycles and cars throughout the 20th century and the 80's brought the birth of many successful models including the Swift and Vitara.
The success of Suzuki is mainly due to the fact that they have had many oversees developments including a major subsidiary in India, called Maruti Suzuki, who were the first Indian automobile company to sell over 1 million vehicles.
