Mazda MX5 2.0L (2007) Car Review

Mazda MX5 2.0L (2007)

2008-05-27 10:44:54 - This is part of the third generation of MX5's, with production starting in 2005. The car builds on what it does best and in terms of looking good it’s almost identical to the previous version. This 2 Litre model produces 160BHP which performs reasonably well, producing a 0-62MPH time of 8 seconds.

As a roadster you'd expect a bit of joy from driving it and the car is just that - very fun to drive! The handling is sharp and concise with it being much stiffer than previous models; this creates a very responsive and pleasing car to drive – meaning as a driver you will always feel in control of this car. It never takes you out of your comfort zone (this is a bad thing for some drivers!)

In the way of practicality the car isn't far off the mark either, the folding roof creates no problems and can be detached or re-attached in less than 30 seconds, so should you get caught in a freak storm there’s no need to worry... The centre console controls are easy to follow and provide a nice decor to the interior. As standard it will come with 16" steel wheels, ABS, remote central locking, heated electric door mirrors, twin front airbags and a CD Stereo and for a little extra you can be a poser and get the sport trim and 17 inch rims.

The car is reasonably priced, starting at 16 grand and with a fuel economy of 36mpg the running costs won't be extortionate. For this price we would advise anybody to buy this car if they're after lots of fun, reliability and most importantly… a very good roadster!

Score: 8/10
